Urban game – discovering Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski and building relationships

On 16 July 2026, children and young people from migrant backgrounds took part in an urban game and integration workshops in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. The participants learned more about the city, its surroundings and the place where they now live, study and spend their free time.

Discovering the city, completing tasks together and having fun formed the basis of another integration event for children and young people from migrant backgrounds in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. This time, the participants took part in an urban game combined with integration workshops.

The game provided an opportunity to learn more about Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski and its immediate surroundings. The young participants could see the city from a new perspective, pay closer attention to places they pass every day and feel more confident in the area where they now live, study and spend their free time.

Moving around the city together, completing prepared tasks and searching for the next locations encouraged cooperation, conversation and mutual understanding. The active format of the event made it possible to combine local education with integration and enjoyable shared experiences.

Discovering the city through active participation

The urban game encouraged the participants to observe their surroundings carefully, find their way around the city and solve tasks together. As a result, the children and young people not only gained new knowledge but also developed independence and teamwork skills.

Becoming familiar with the local area is particularly important for young people who have begun life in a new country. Knowing the city better helps to build a sense of security, makes everyday life easier and strengthens their connection with the place where they live.

Workshops that help build relationships

The urban game was complemented by integration workshops. Their programme encouraged conversation, cooperation and the creation of an atmosphere based on openness and mutual respect.

The shared tasks helped participants overcome barriers, develop communication skills and build relationships with one another. The event showed that integration can take place naturally through joint activities, discovering the local environment and sharing new experiences.

Ongoing cooperation with the local Polish Red Cross branch

The event was organised thanks to our ongoing cooperation with the Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski branch of the Polish Red Cross. Its premises are home to the local INTEURO InfoPoint, which we operate as part of a project supporting the integration of foreigners in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship.

Both the urban game and the integration workshops were led by Polish Red Cross staff. Their knowledge of the local community, experience and commitment made it possible to prepare activities that combined discovering the city with active relationship-building.

We would like to thank the staff of the Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski branch of the Polish Red Cross for another joint initiative, and all the participants for their energy, curiosity and involvement. Events like this help young people learn more about the place where they live and feel part of the local community.
