A meeting for children and young people at the INTEURO Centre – Mother’s Day, Ukrainian tradition and an important lesson in history

On 17 May 2026, a meeting for children and young people was held at the INTEURO Centre, dedicated to Mother’s Day, Ukrainian traditions and important topics related to historical memory and responsibility for the community.

In the first part of the meeting, the children prepared for Polish Mother’s Day, which is celebrated on 26 May. The participants sang songs about mothers, talked about gratitude, closeness and the importance of family, and also made handmade gifts. We hope that the results of their work will bring mothers a lot of joy on their special day.

The meeting was also an opportunity to talk about Vyshyvanka Day – a celebration of Ukrainian culture, identity and tradition. The children and young people learned about the symbolism of patterns found on embroidered shirts and discussed how important it is to preserve one’s heritage, language and memory of family roots.

During the activities, a very serious and important topic was also addressed – the Chornobyl tragedy, whose anniversary had recently taken place. The participants discussed, in an accessible way, the consequences of the disaster, the responsibility of authorities for citizens’ safety, and the great importance of an independent state and responsible leadership that cares for its people.

It was a meeting that combined creative work, a conversation about family, learning about Ukrainian culture and reflection on history. Such activities help children and young people better understand themselves, their heritage and the world in which they live.

📌 Important: The INTEURO Centre is a space for meetings, education and integration for foreigners living in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship.
