Your Trusted Profile has expired? Check what to do

Online consultation: Your Trusted Profile has expired — what should you do?

Welcome to another post from our ❗️Online consultation series.

In this article we explain what to do if your Trusted Profile (Profil Zaufany) has expired.

An active Trusted Profile is required to access many public e-services in Poland. If it expires, you may have problems logging in or confirming your identity in various government systems.

❓ What should you do if your Trusted Profile stops working?

1. If the validity has just expired or is about to expire

The easiest solution is to renew your Trusted Profile online. If you still have access to your account, follow these steps:

  • go to the website pz.gov.pl,
  • log in to your profile using your login and password or through online banking,
  • open the section “Mój Profil Zaufany”,
  • find the option “Przedłuż ważność” (extend validity),
  • confirm the action with the code received by SMS or in your banking app.

2. Through online banking

This is one of the most popular methods. If your Trusted Profile was originally created through your bank and became inactive, you can often activate it again using your bank’s mobile app or online banking.

In that case:

  • log in to your banking application,
  • look for a section such as “e-Urząd” or “Profil Zaufany”,
  • select the option to create or verify your profile,
  • the system will automatically retrieve your data and reactivate the profile.

This option is available for example in mBank, PKO BP, Santander, Pekao and other banks.

3. If you cannot log in online

If your Trusted Profile expired a long time ago or online methods do not work, you may need to confirm your identity in person.

In that situation:

  • submit an application for a new Trusted Profile on pz.gov.pl,
  • within 14 days visit a confirmation point (Punkt Potwierdzający).

Such confirmation points include for example:

  • City Hall or Municipal Office,
  • ZUS offices,
  • Tax Offices (Urząd Skarbowy),
  • selected post offices.

4. Important details

Remember a few important things:

  • PESEL UKR: if you have UKR status, the Trusted Profile is very important for accessing the mObywatel application and electronic prescriptions. When confirming or renewing your profile, it is advisable to have your PESEL confirmation document and passport with you.
  • SMS reminder: the system usually sends an SMS reminder a few days before the profile expires.

5. Practical tip

Confirming your Trusted Profile at the ZUS office in Kielce is usually quite straightforward, although you may need to wait in a queue and remember to bring your documents.

📌 Tip:

  • check the expiration date of your Trusted Profile in advance,
  • keep access to the phone number and email connected to the profile,
  • bring your documents when visiting a confirmation point.
